"Marie The Cyclone" is a wonderful 32-page gentle giantess story that appeared in the 9/2002 issue of Japan's
"Magazine Z" manga magazine. To my knowledge, it has not been published in book form. It's the story of a nice
giantess named Marie, who lives near a small village and works to support her family back home by helping defend
the town against monsters -- except Marie's not exactly warrior material.

   The story is funny and touching, and the artwork is perfect. "Marie the Cyclone" was a winner in a Japanese
new-author submission contest, and I think the author will have a successful career.

   As finding years-old, out-of-date Japanese magazines is impossible for those living outside Japan (and almost
as impossible even inside Japan), I have decided to place "Maire the Cyclone" online. It's such a good story that
it should be enjoyed, and not just disappear as the years go by. I enjoyed it so much that a while back, myself
and another person decided to translate the story, and make an English-language version of "Marie" to help bring
it to English-speaking audiences. This translation effort was totally non-profit. We just enjoyed it so much,
we wanted to make it accessible to more people.

   Super Dreadnought Girl 4946 (Choudokyuu Shoujo 4946) is a brand new GTS Manga by Takeshi Azuma that
just started in Japan (2009) -- and it's really good! It can be found in Shonen Sunday Super Magazine,
published by Shogakukan. Each issue has a new "Scene" (chapter) -- and best of all, a fan group (desudesu0)
has started translating it into English! Because it's a GTS manga (and a good one), I'm putting the first
five Scenes up here for download (what's been translated as of this writing). But I don't want to steal
their thunder (they deserve the credit) -- so for any new Scenes after #5, please visit either Desudesu0's
blog or the Mangaupdates Page on Super Dreadnought Girl to find out if there's been any new updates.
   This is a really nice manga: great art, great characters, funny situations -- and an interesting story
that I can't wait to read more of.

  Morumo 1/10 is a wonderful 2-book Japanese manga from the 1980s. Sadly, it's now out of print.

  Morumo is a 15yr-old high school girl in Japan who is 50ft tall. Even with her tremendous size though, she just
tries to be a normal teenager, going to school (looking in from the outside), and hanging out with friends.
   Morumo is adopted. As a normal-sized baby, she was found by a young couple going out on a date, who decided
to get married and raise Morumo as their own. But Morumo began to grow about the time she was in kindergarten,
and in order to help pay the huge housing and food costs, she wears advertisements on her clothing when she
walks around town.
   Morumo loves her parents and friends, but her best friend is a boy named Miharu. They've known each other since
they were young kids, and every morning Morumo comes by Miharu's apartment to wake him up and take him to school.
   Morumo's biggest wish is that she could become normal size, and when a jealous mad scientist injects her with
a temporary shrinking potion, she's not angry, she's overjoyed, thinking she can now finally go to the movies,
concerts, and dances. But the problem is that even when her size is small, her incredible mass remains, so even
when she's temporarily shrunk to 5ft, she still has the mass and weight of someone 50ft tall, causing all sorts
of problems. The scientist decides to help, and develops a suit for her to wear that will help in this regard,
but of course something always happens. 
   Still, being able to be shrunk to normal size with injections, she can at least try to lead a more normal life.
When she's told she can have a "chain" job, she gets happy, thinking it'll be at a "chain store" (ie, McDonalds,
donut shop, etc), but it turns out to be a job using her super-strength to deal with chains ;) She gets a part
time job at a clothing shop, but things always seem to happen when you're super strong and/or super giant.
   There's a lot of stuff that goes on, but in the end, it's revealed that Morumo came from another planet, where
the people are 100 times the size of humans. The people on the planet abandoned their homewold in a colonization
ship, and when Morumo was a baby, they shrunk her 10x and sent to her Earth to determine whether the two races
could co-exist (with Morumo 10x smaller than those on her own planet, but still 10x larger than humans).
   At the end of the 2nd book, a spaceship from Morumo's homeworld appears. After watching all the goings-on over
the years, the people from Morumo's planet determined that the size difference would be too much for the two races
to live together, so they will go on and search for another planet. Morumo's real father invites her to come with
them, but Morumo (who remembers nothing of the other world) says she wants to stay, telling them she may be an
alien on earth, but there are the parents who lovingly raised her, the friends who helped her in times of
depression, and the person who has risked his life to protect her (Miharu). She says she might be just causing
trouble for earth, but she isn't ready to say "Farewell" yet (book 2, p.206) Her alien father accepts this,
saying he and his wife had to accept the loss of her long ago.
   One thing to mention: Motokura (the scientist) is really future Miharu! Miharu really likes Morumo, and even as
little kindergarten kids, he promises Morumo he'll find a way to help make her "normal". Well when he's an adult,
he gets caught in an explosion, and wakes up 18 years in the past (where the bulk of the story takes place), having
lost his memories, and being able to recall things only after getting shot on the island (island scene: book 2,
p. 174, explanation: book 2, p. 199) -- but of course until this point near the end of the story, no one has any
idea. Also, while Morumo's parents do tell her one day that she's adopted, she doesn't find out where she's really
from until closer to the end.

   Microboy is an out-of-print one-volume manga about high school boy who discovers he can become small for a short
time by taking a pill, and has lots of adventures sneaking around women being tiny (in one story, he wants to sneak
into his teacher's house, so he dresses up as a girl before shrinking to look like a gift figurine).

   Note: Microboy has some nudity, but nothing graphic or obscene.
